does the e-510′s kit lens come with a lens hood?

I have this camera and it absolutely rules. One thing that the live view does for you is allows you to zoom in on the edge of your subject ‘digitally’ in order to make sure your manual focus (if that’s what you’re using) is perfect.

Truthfully I rarely use Live View, but when I DO need it it’s awesome. I highly recommend this camera.

I have had no problems with the viewfinder. As I said, I can’t talk about the canon, as I never used it.

One thing I had to do sometimes with night shots, is to turn off the lcd. But that’s normal, I’m in the dark and the light in the lcd makes difficult to use the viewfinder.

I think you should go to a shop and try them both for that.

    Sorry I couldn’t help you.

I have just bought it one week ago. And it’s awesome. great stuff!!!!

I have always used canon as reflex cameras but I gave this one a shot. An what a shot!

I haven’t used EOS400D, but hard recommend e-510. really good technologies

    ps. sorry for my english

the e-510 is a much better camera to the eos400. quite simply, in terms of image quality, both will be 99% the same. but the 510 has built in IS and Liveview. dont underestimate the benefit of both of these, IS will give you blur free handheld shots where the eos400 cant. and liveview can allow you to take closeups, overheads, etc, very easily. add in the best dust shaker in the business, and the 510 is an amazing machine. it wasnt EISA 2007 camera of the year for no reason.

I finally take EOS400D. maybe it’s a stupid reason, but I jst don’t like the Olympus eye n liveview, cos it jst don’t looks clear and dark, whereas the Canon looks brighter and clearer. The sales guy told me the view doesn’t effect the quality of the picture. But I think I couldn’t compromise on that. It’s like wearing and old eye glasses and new one. I think I jst have to make use with less features, at lower price and no extra lens.I bought my EOS400D.

  • WhatDigitalCamera:

E510 has benefit of built-in Image stabilisation which would save money having t buy IS lenses (as with canon) but in-lens IS is probably better. E510 also has LiveView, whch Canon doesn’t. But Canon system is much bigger and there’s more used Canon gear around at bargain prices. Have you compared them side by side?

  • lhseng:

Canon EOS400D or Olympus E510. Which one do you think I should buy ? Its gonna be my first DSLR camera.. I just takeoff Nikon40X.

  • nikongigio:

Fantastic camera, much improved sharper ED glass kit lenses over the E-500 kit lenses with faster focusing probably do to its smaller and lighter lens designs. I love it but it does tend to blow out the highlights which I hope can be improved with firmware up-dates in the near future because it is a problem. Well done Olympus.

  • oblivion2500:

    I’ll buy it tonight
